Boys Basketball: Fatima 70, Eugene 63

LINN, Mo. - Steven Brandt scored a game-high 30 points to lead the Fatima Comets to a 70-63 win against the Eugene Eagles in the fifth-place game of the Linn Invitational on Thursday.

Eugene led by one point at the end of the first quarter, but Fatima won the scoring battle 17-7 in the second quarter to lead 37-28 at halftime. The Comets extended their lead to 53-38 by the end of the third quarter.

Sam Groner added 20 points for Fatima. Brandt was named to the all-tournament team.

Austin Engelbrecht led Eugene with 20 points. Austin Dickey - who was also placed on the all-tournament team - chipped in 12 points and Zachary Bond and Mason Kirkweg each scored 10 points.

Fatima (6-3) will host St. Elizabeth on Tuesday in Show-Me Conference play. Eugene (6-5) will play Tuesday at Iberia.
