Wrestling: Blair Oaks finishes ninth

LEXINGTON, Mo. - The Blair Oaks Falcons took ninth place out of 39 teams at the Battle of Lexington Tournament held Friday and Saturday.

Buffalo won the team championship with 432 points, finishing one point ahead of Marceline. Lawson was third with 415 points, Gallatin took fourth with 383 points and Lathrop placed fifth with 315.5 points.

London Gaydos had the highest individual finish for the Falcons, placing second at 120 pounds. Gaydos won his first four matches by fall - three in the first period, including a pin in nine seconds against Conner Berry of Maysville - before losing a 9-2 decision against Tristan Blair of Lathrop in the championship match.

Bo Thomas finished fourth at 132, posting an 6-2 record at the tournament. Thomas finished 5-0 in pool play, earning one of the top-four seeds in bracket play. He dropped his first match in bracket lay, won in the consolation semifinal and then lost a 14-3 major decision against Tyler Ross of Lawson.

Kyler Griep placed fifth at 138, finishing with a 6-3 record. Griep was 4-2 in pool play and finished the tournament by winning a medical forfeit against Lafayette County's Trenton Ruskin in the fifth-place match.

Other Blair Oaks wrestler who competed include Paul Karsten, who finished eighth at 195, and Joey Conway, who placed 10th at 126. Sam Dudenhoeffer finished in 13th at 160.

Clayton Roling and Lucas Holtmeyer competed but did not place. Roling finished with a 1-4 record at 170 and Holtmeyer was 1-5 at 220.

Blair Oaks will wrestle in a tri-dual Monday against Marceline and Warsaw at Marceline.
