Missouri women's basketball adds transfer from South Carolina

COLUMBIA - The Missouri women's basketball team added its second transfer in as many days Wednesday afternoon.

LaDazhia Williams, a junior forward from Bradenton, Fla., and former South Carolina Gamecock, announced on Instagram she would be transferring from one Columbia to another. Williams participated in the 2016 USA Basketball under-18 team trials, and the former Lakewood Ranch High School star was ranked the No. 48 recruit in the 2017 class by ESPN's HoopGurlz system.

She will sit out the 2019-20 season per NCAA transfer rules.

Williams played in 48 total games at South Carolina, 29 as a freshman, with no starts. She averaged 1.3 points and 1.7 rebounds per game in her career as a Gamecock, shooting 38 percent from the floor and 2-for-3 from 3-point range. She scored a career-high six points against Maryland on Nov. 18, and played one minute against the Tigers on Jan. 21, missing the only shot she attempted.

Williams is the third player to transfer away from South Carolina this offseason, and the second player to leave the program for Missouri in three years, after Haley Troup signed with the Gamecocks in 2017 but transferred before the season began.

South Carolina signed five freshman in its last recruiting class, and brought in the No. 1 class per ESPN's metrics. Missouri's class of Aijha Blackwell, Strafford's Hayley Frank and former Jefferson City Lady Jay Micah Linthacum ranked No. 12.
