Robertson named preseason All-American by D1Baseball

OMAHA, Neb. - Creighton junior Will Robertson was picked Monday as a preseason third-team All-American by D1Baseball, as selected by the website's editors.

Robertson (Fatima High School) was one of three college outfielders on the third team, and nine outfielders total were represented on the first, second and third teams.

According to the press release, D1Baseball selects its preseason All-American team with one principle in mind: "To identify the best and most valuable college baseball players" for the upcoming season.

Robertson was one of only 13 players from non-Power 5 conference programs to make the preseason All-American list, which featured just 54 players from NCAA Division I.

In 2018, Robertson compiled a .333 batting average (66-for-198) with 12 home runs and 59 RBI. His 1.053 on-base-plus-slugging percentage was the highest of any position player on either second or third teams on the preseason All-American list.

Last month, Robertson - the Bluejays' left-handed hitting right fielder - was named the Big East Conference preseason co-player of the year. After receiving All-Big East first team honors last year, Robertson played 42 games in the Cape Cod League, where he posted a .300 batting average with 28 RBI for the Cotuit (Mass.) Kettleers.

Creighton opens the 2019 season with a three-game series from Feb. 15-17 at Arkansas-Little Rock.
