College Track: Watson wins 800-meter run for Army

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Army junior Haley Watson picked up one of three wins for the Black Knights on Saturday at the Nittany Lion Challenge.

Watson (Jefferson City High School) took first in the women's 800-meter run, clocking a time of 2:13.58, edging Pittsburgh's Sydni Townsend by 12-hundredths of a second.

The time was a personal best during the indoor season for Watson and ranks fifth on Army's all-time list in the women's 800.

Watson also competed on Army's 4x400-meter relay, which finished sixth with a time of 3:55.67.

Last month in Army's home meet, the Crowell Open, to start the indoor season, Watson won the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:54.45, the eighth-fastest in program history. She also helped the Black Knights to a first-place finish in the 4x400 with a time of 3:58.00.

Army will compete Friday and Saturday at Virginia Military Institute.
