College Track and Field: Fife, Haller win titles

COLUMBIA - Missouri redshirt senior Will Fife and Columbia College freshman Brianna Haller each recorded an event win Saturday at the Missouri Collegiate Challenge at the Hearnes Center.

Fife (Helias High School) posted an indoor season personal-best in the men's shot put, winning with a throw of 60 feet, 3.25 inches.

That mark surpassed the 60-2.5 Fife threw earlier this month at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational. His outdoor record in the shot put is 60-11.5.

Fife's new mark ranks 44th in NCAA Division I this season. He is still ranked No. 10 on Missouri's all-time list in the indoor shot put.

Haller (Fatima High School) clocked a winning time of 10:31.35 in the women's 3,000-meter final, 10 seconds better than second-place finisher Lexi Maddox of Missouri.

That time surpassed Haller's personal-best by 25 seconds. It ranks 25th this season in the NAIA and is a provisional standard for the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Truman State senior Hannah Oberdiek (South Callaway High School) finished third in the women's long jump with a leap of 18-3.75, less than an inch from her season-best in the event.

Missouri Baptist senior Andrea Hughes (Jefferson City High School) came in sixth place in the women's shot put with a throw of 40-3.25. Missouri S&T freshman Jessica Rhoads (Jefferson City High School) finished 14th in the same event with a throw of 34-0.25.

Missouri freshman Abby Hake (Helias High School) took 14th place in the women's mile run with a time of 5:37.43.

Missouri S&T sophomore Luke Allen (Calvary Lutheran High School) was 10th in the men's long jump (21-4.25) and 12th in the triple jump (43-5.25). Fontbonne sophomore Greih Murray (Blair Oaks High School) also was in two events, finishing 15th in the shot put (33-6) and 17th in the weight throw (34-2).

Missouri sophomore Jason Edwards (School of the Osage High School) came in 10th place in the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 23.14 seconds, while Missouri S&T junior Daniel Miller (Jefferson City High School) also finished 10th in the men's weight throw with a personal-best toss of 46-11.5.
