MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa - Freshman Mason Kirkweg and senior Alex Dickneite each picked up a win on the mound last Saturday in Westminster's doubleheader sweep of Iowa Wesleyan.
Kirkweg (Eugene High School) pitched six innings in Game 1, an 8-2 win for Westminster. He scattered seven hits and gave up two runs and two walks while striking out seven.
Sophomore Drew Boessen (Helias High School) pitched a scoreless seventh to finish the win.
Dickneite (Fatima High School) finished with 10 strikeouts in seven scoreless innings in Game 2, a 15-0 Westminster win in eight innings. He allowed just two hits and two walks.
Several area players also contributed at the plate in the sweep:
Freshman Michael Skinner (Jefferson City High Schoo) went 4-for-7 in the doubleheader with two RBI and a run scored.
Freshman Hayden Hirschvogel (Jefferson City High School) went 2-for-7 in the two games with three RBI.
Sophomore Zach Stiles (Helias High School) batted 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
Freshman Ethan Rackers (Blair Oaks High School) drove in three runs.
Freshman Taylor Dobbins (Versailles High School) came off the bench in Game 2 to have a single, an RBI and a run scored.
Freshman Drew Bax (Fatima High School) came off the bench in Game 2 and scored a run.
Westminster (8-7) hosts a doubleheader today against Greenville.
