Women's Basketball: Lutz scores 23 in first start

MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois freshman guard Elizabeth Lutz scored a game-high 23 points in her first career start Monday, leading the Leathernecks to a 136-39 win against MacMurray College.

Lutz (California High School) was making her first career start in just her third collegiate game, easily reaching a career high in points. In 23 minutes, she shot 10-of-20 from the field - 3-of-11 from 3-point range - and added five steals, four assists and three rebounds in the win.

Through three games, Lutz is third on the team in scoring with 12.7 points per game and leads the team with seven made 3-pointers.

Western Illinois (1-2) plays Thursday at Purdue.
