Renegades, Griffons halted by rain Saturday night

NEVADA, Mo. - Rain appeared to be the only thing that could slow down the Jefferson City Renegades on Saturday night.

Jefferson City led 7-1 in the top of the fifth inning against the Nevada Griffons when the MINK League contest was suspended due to rain.

The game will be continued at 5 p.m. today, and then will be followed by today's regularly scheduled game between the Renegades (16-17) and the Griffons (20-14) at 7 p.m.

Jefferson City scored its first run in the top of the first inning on an error. The Renegades then added three runs in each of the third and fourth innings to lead 7-0.

Tyler Bracht had a bases-clearing, two-out double in the third. In the fourth inning, Kaden Helsel scored on an error, Jordan Smith scored on Justin McIntyre's sacrifice fly and Mike Million scored on a fielder's choice to extend Jefferson City's lead to seven runs.

Zion Mayberry hit a solo home run off Renegades pitcher Michael McElmeel in the bottom of the fourth, only one of two hits McElmeel allowed in four innings. He walked one and struck out seven.
