College Baseball: Rackers receives honors

Jefferson College freshman Jason Rackers picked up a trio of honors following the NJCAA baseball postseason.

Rackers (Blair Oaks High School) was selected as a first-team all-conference pitcher by the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference. In addition, Rackers was chosen as an all-region second-team pitcher in Region XVI, as well as being the pitcher on the all-region defensive team.

During the 2018 season, Rackers led the Vikings in several pitching categories: wins (11), strikeouts (103), innings pitched (82) and games started (14). He finished the season with a 2.63 ERA and walked just 23 batters, striking out 11.3 batters per nine innings.

Jefferson College (54-12-1) finished the season ranked No. 8 in NJCAA Division I, going 1-2 at the NJCAA World Series. Rackers was the winning pitcher in the Vikings' World Series opener.
