College Track and Field: SIU's Roberson sets PR in hammer throw

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Southern Illinois sophomore Alexis Roberson recorded her first event win of the outdoor season in the Jesse Owens Classic, which was hosted by Ohio State on Friday and Saturday.

Roberson (Jefferson City High School) finished first in the women's hammer throw, setting a personal record in the event with a throw of 186 feet, 2 inches. She was the only competitor to throw at least 180 feet.

Roberson also placed 21st in the discus with a toss of 140-5.

Southern Illinois senior Kezia Martin (Jefferson City High School) recorded a pair of top-10 finishes for the Salukis. She placed fourth in the women's triple jump with a distance of 39-1.75 and was seventh in the long jump with a leap of 18-7.25.
