Lincoln drops MIAA softball doubleheader to Pittsburg State

PITTSBURG, Kan. - The Lincoln softball team dropped its final road doubleheader of the season Wednesday, losing 10-1 and 19-1 against Pittsburg State.

Tori Nienhueser had the Blue Tigers' lone hit in Game 1 with a leadoff single in the second inning. She would score later in the inning, tagging up from third on Emily Williams' foul out to give Lincoln a 1-0 lead.

Pittsburg State would tie the score in the bottom half of the inning, then end the game by run-rule with a nine-run fifth inning.

Alyssa Schulte took the loss for Lincoln, allowing 10 runs on eight hits with seven walks and two strikeouts in 4 innings.

The Gorillas tallied 17 hits in Game 2, scoring at least two runs in each of the four innings they came to bat.

Schulte scored Lincoln's only run in the top of the third inning on an RBI single by Mykenzie Livesay, cutting the Pittsburg State lead to 5-1.

The Gorillas would go on to score six times in the third and added eight more runs in the fourth.

Madison Ragar was the losing pitcher for Lincoln. In 2 innings, she gave up 10 runs (nine earned) on eight hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Delayne Patton pitched the last 1 innings, surrendering nine runs on nine hits.

Livesay with 2-for-3 with a pair of singles for the Blue Tigers, while Jordan Lawson also went 2-for-3, collecting a single and a double, extending her school single-season record to 17 doubles.

Lincoln (5-39, 0-22 MIAA) will finish the regular season with home doubleheaders, starting at 2 p.m. Friday against Central Missouri and at 1 p.m. Saturday against Southwest Baptist at LU Softball Field.
