Lady Owls log ninth straight NAIA tournament bid

The William Woods University Lady Owls basketball team is going back to the national tournament after receiving the 17th and final at-large bid.

William Woods will be making its ninth straight appearance, and 10th overall, in the NAIA Division I women's basketball national championship after the bracket was revealed Wednesday night.

The Lady Owls (20-11) drew the eighth seed in the Liston Bracket and will face top-seeded Shawnee State (Ohio) (31-2) in the first round at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark in Billings, Montana.

William Woods is 2-9 overall at the national championship. The Lady Owls will be joined by four other schools from the American Midwest Conference in this year's national tournament - Freed-Hardeman (Tennessee) University (33-0), Lyon (Arkansas) College (27-5), Columbia College (26-6) and Lindenwood University-Belleville (Illinois) (22-9).

William Woods did not receive an at-large bid to the NAIA Division I men's basketball national championship Wednesday night. The Owls (22-11) lost to Harris-Stowe State University 80-56 in the AMC postseason tournament championship Tuesday night at Anderson Arena.
