Lincoln track and field resumes indoor schedule at Missouri

COLUMBIA - The Lincoln men's indoor track and field team had 14 top-10 finishes Friday during the Missouri Invitational at the Hearnes Center, including four runner-up finishes.

Darran Hunter placed second in the 60-meter hurdle finals with a time of 8.26 seconds, while Faedian Royes finished second in the 400-meter dash in 49.05 seconds. Both Hunter and Royes, along with Miguel Barton and Roger Blake, took second place in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:20.61.

Owen Smith was runner-up in the triple jump with a distance of 14.69 meters.

In the 60-meter dash finals, Lincoln's Roberto Smith and Stephen Rose finished third and fourth, respectively. Smith had a time of 6.87 seconds, while Rose was clocked at 6.89.

Lincoln also finished third and fourth in the 200-meter dash. Blake took third in 22.24 seconds, while Barton was fourth in 22.35.

In the long jump, Sedeekie Edie was third with a jump of 7.42 meters, followed by Orneldo Thomas in fourth at 7.34 meters.

Other notable results for the Lincoln men include Kevon Robinson placing sixth in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:59.62, Alva Henry finishing seventh in the 400-meter dash in 50.93 seconds, Tae'Mon Franklin posting a sixth-place mark in the long jump with a distance of 6.75 meters and Alex Templeton taking seventh in the high jump, clearing 1.85 meters.

Missouri sophomore Will Fife (Helias High School) finished in second place in the shot put with a throw of 15.82 meters.

Southeast Missouri State freshman Nick Yaeger (Blair Oaks High School) took 11th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:00.95. Yaeger was also on the Redhawks' 4x400-meter relay team that finished 10th in 3:33.40.

The Lincoln women's indoor track and field team posted three top-10 finishes Friday.

Daina Cauldwell posted Lincoln's top individual performance, finishing fifth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.76 seconds in the finals.

Lincoln's 4x400-meter relay team also finished in fifth place. The quartet of Kimberly Bailey, Shanice Clarke, Ja'Ianna Williams and Willomena Williams posted a time of 4:01.72.

Tajera Lawkin placed eighth in the women's triple jump with a distance of 10.95 meters.

Other notable results for the Lincoln women include Cauldwell finishing 15th in the 200-meter dash in 26.58 seconds, Danielle James taking 15th place in the mile run in 5:33.08 and Clarke placing 19th in the 800-meter run in 2:29.70.

Southeast Missouri State sophomore Kaitlyn Shea (Helias High School) won the women's 3,000-meter run in 10:04.98. Columbia College junior Grace Young (Russellville High School) placed fifth in 10:38.94.

The Lincoln men's and women's track teams will compete Saturday at Pittsburg State.
