Cauldwell takes titles in long jump, triple jump at Indiana for Blue Tigers

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Lincoln sophomore Diana Cauldwell won both the women's long jump and triple jump titles Friday at the Hoosier Hills Meet hosted by Indiana.

Cauldwell already had the long jump title sealed through five jumps, but her sixth and final jump was the best. She won the event with a jump of 19 feet, 4.75 inches.

That distance is Cauldwell's best this season and ranks eighth in the NCAA Division II.

Meanwhile, in the triple jump, Cauldwell's second jump of 40-6.75 was the mark that earned her a victory in her second event.

Shanice Clarke gave the Blue Tigers another top three finish Friday, taking third place in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:37.64. She was followed by Ja'Ianna Williams, who placed fourth in 1:40.83.

In the 200-meter dash, Kimberley Bailey placed third for Lincoln in 25.11 seconds. Eketa Roberts finished fourth in 26.15.

Lincoln also accounted for the third- and fourth-place finishes in the 400-meter dash "fast section." Kissi-Ann Brown was third in 57.12 seconds, while Willomena Williams took fourth in 57.66. Renea Ambersley took fourth place in the general 400-meter dash in a time of 57.95 seconds.

Danielle James placed fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19.37.

Lincoln finished third in the 4x400-meter relay. The quartet of Roberts, Ja'Ianna Williams, Sharolyn Joseph Hamblet and Clarke posted a time of 3:53.18.

In the men's events, Miguel Barton won the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.96 seconds, finishing ahead of teammate Stephen Rose, who was second in 22.17.

Barton also took second place in the 400-meter dash "fast section" with a time of 49.00 seconds. Rose took fourth place in the 60-meter dash in 6.97 seconds, ahead of Roberto Smith, who finished fifth in 7.00.

In the 800-meters, Jeromia Riley placed second in 1:53.24, followed by Kevon Robinson in third at 1:53.98. Darran Hunter was fifth in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.34 seconds and Romario Foote took eighth in the mile run with a time of 4:43.32.

Lincoln's distance medley relay team of Faedian Royes, Riley, Robinson and Foote finished second in 10:48.11.

Lincoln will compete Friday at the UCM Classic in Warrensburg to conclude the indoor track and field regular season.
