Lincoln announces 2017 hall of fame class

The Lincoln Blue Tigers will induct a national championship squad, a track and field relay team and seven individual into Lincoln Athletic Hall of Fame class for 2017.

The honorees will be inducted into the hall of fame Friday, Sept. 22. The class will be recognized during halftime of Lincoln's Homecoming football game, which begins at 2 p.m., and then they will be inducted during a ceremony at 5:30 p.m. on campus at the Scruggs University Center Ballroom.

The 2004 women's track and field team, which won NCAA Division II national titles during both the indoor and outdoor seasons, highlight this year's induction class. The team won Lincoln's first indoor track and field national championship and repeated as outdoor track and field champions.

The 1965 men's two-mile relay team of Roosevelt Boozer, George Harris, Duane Milan and Clarence Wine will be honored in this year's class. They were the first HBCU team to enter the two-mile relay at the Texas Relays, and won in a record-breaking time of 7:15, which remains a Lincoln school record.
