Women's Basketball: Southern Illinois 78, William Woods 58

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The WWU Lady Owls bowed to the Southern Illinois Lady Salukis in an exhibition game Thursday night.

Southern Illinois led 26-11 after one quarter and held a 37-22 advantage at halftime. The Lady Salukis outscored William Woods University 23-20 in the third quarter to maintain a 60-42 lead.

Senior center Kennedy Volkart paced the Lady Owls with 15 points, while senior guard April Gebke tallied 14. Freshman guard Kaycee Gerald recorded a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

William Woods open its regular season at Tabor (Kansas) College at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
