Your Opinion: Crisis in Yemen

Dear Editor:

Here are some numbers on the U.S.-backed Saudi-led war on Yemen, from "The Nation" magazine.

Seventy-seven percent of Yemen's population is in need of humanitarian assistance; 5 million Yemenis are on the brink of famine. There are about $1.4 million suspected cases of cholera. About 85,000 Yemeni children died of disease or starvation from April 2015 to October 2018. About 19,278 Saudi air attacks on Yemen took place from 2015 to January 2019. About $68.2 billion is the value of U.S. arms deals to Saudi Arabia and the U.A.E. since 2015. Only one joint resolution was passed by Congress to end the U.S. involvement in Yemen. It was vetoed by our great leader Donald Trump.

My, my, my does this fall under the same Christian compassion we are giving those on our southern border? Read James 3:18 and 1st John 4:20. That is for our "conservative" friends. The all-smart, all-knowing conservatives!

I hope Mr. Otto, Ms. Rome and a few others aren't crying. Be of good cheer, Donald is here. Wee! Wee! Wee!
