Your Opinion: California pro-abortion article doesn’t reflect our values

Dear Editor:

A few days ago I read an almost quarter-of-a-page editorial from a woman in Los Angeles, California on the opinion section of “our local community newspaper” and I — probably like many — was upset.

What was the reasoning of the News Tribune editor to choose and publish such an article supporting abortion at this time — when our legislators and governor are standing up for babies’ lives? And forgive me, but what do we care about the views of a liberal resident of the state of California. This is Missouri and this is Jefferson City, the capital of Missourians. If we wanted opinions from California we would ask for them. However, many of us believe California should be a country by itself, and not a state, because it is so liberal and financially messed up.

The Christian and conservative people of Missouri are struggling to inform and remind all citizens that killing babies is horrible, and at the same time we readers have to endure a lengthy pro-abortion nonsensical spiel from a person in Los Angeles because the local editor likes her views?!

The “local” newspaper, I believe, has an obligation to support the majority of the people it serves, to include its advertisers. I don’t believe that most of those two groups want to read a killing babies lecture from a Californian in their hometown Missouri newspaper. Please remember that your newspaper limits all local letters to the editor to 400 words or fewer, but you have no word-length restrictions on a person from California! Think about it!

I think you need to have a staff meeting and decide how your newspaper owners and editors feel. If they desire to promote abortion and killing babies even after the babies are born alive, many of us would like to know this.

You recently published an unnecessary NT editorial chastising the school system on school bus safety when the school district absolutely has strict safety guidelines that they go by, and then publish a huge editorial comment promoting abortion. I’m from Missouri; show me you are worthy of our readership and trust that you will support our community and its moral values. And pick on some issue bigger than to remind super-safety-conscious school officials on bus safety. Thousands of would-be school bus students are being killed daily by abortions. What are you doing about that?!
