Your Opinion: LTE littered with lies, half truths

Dear Editor:

Unfortunately the reply to Wansing was littered with lies and half truths which can easily be checked with such sources as Politifact, fact-check and Snopes. George Soros has never stated that he wanted to destroy this country or have open borders. This rumor was started by a viral blog post and remains unsubstantiated. He does favor humanitarian treatment for refuge seekers since he is a holocaust survivor. He recently paired with Charles Koch, contributor to Republicans, to found a peace-seeking organization.

The Iran deal had many restrictions: lower enrichment of uranium 3-4 percent vs 90 percent for nuclear bombs; amount of centrifuges reduced from over 20,000 to about 5,000; nuclear stockpile reduced 98 percent for over 15 years; strict inspections. Yes, Iran got $150 million of their own money which was owed for armaments never received.

About $235,000 was given to One Voice, which favored a two-state solution between the Palestinians and Israelis. The money was given although the group did wind up opposing Netanyahu in the election. It would difficult to track if any of it was used for that purpose.

Obama’s perceived support for Odinga may have been construed from criticizing Odinga’s political rival. However, he did not endorse or fund Odinga in his political quest.

Obama did support Morsi initially when he became the first democratically elected president of Egypt. Unfortunately he was not much better than the dictator we supported before he was elected, Hosni Mubarak. Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and the army overthrew him and has become despotic, suppressing all forms of dissent. The $1.5 billion was given as an aid package traditionally given to the Egyptian government regardless of the type. It is not true that Obama and Hillary Clinton aided terrorists or conspired with the Muslim Brotherhood.

There is no evidence to prove that Obama and Soros conspired to bring a Socialist-Muslim to power in (North) Macedonia. Ivanov has been peacefully elected twice, has resolved change of name dispute with Greece, joined NATO and will become a member of the European Union.

The Saudi’s gave about $10 million to help both H.W. Bush and Clinton to build their presidential libraries.

The Spectator was cited as a source. It was a tabloid magazine which promoted sensationalism. It almost went out of business struggling to pay legal bills for alleged witness tampering during the Whitewater investigation.
