Your Opinion: Don't blame climate change for hurricanes

Dear Editor:

I wondered how long it would take after the hurricanes before letters to the editor would show up blaming them on climate change. I didn't have to wait long especially with every uneducated hypocritical actor, actress and musician out there blaming Irma and Harvey on climate change.

Yet even on some of the climate alarmist websites they have admitted that hurricanes have existed for eons, that these fall within normal variation (individual weather events do not constitute climate change) and we haven't had a major hurricane making landfall since 2005. The weather channel reported that this was due to the luck of the draw and natural variation. Harvey was not made worse because of climate change but was made worse by two high-pressure systems that Harvey kept bouncing back and forth in between, keeping it over Houston causing the extreme flooding.

Yet we have Sen. Sheila Jackson Lee claiming that Houston is 50 feet below sea level, sorry sea level has only risen 2.5 inches. Scientist noted that Irma had no upper atmosphere wind shear and thus was stronger. This too has been noted as a natural phenomenon. Climate alarmists have shamefully followed M. F. Weiner's advise: "Don't Waste a Crisis." While raising money for the victims they made sure to blame the hurricanes on Trump policies and climate change. They completely ignored the good work that he did and the praise he has received by many in Houston and Florida. Just think if he did even the slightest thing wrong it would be all over the news. Look what they did to Melania over her shoes and they got that only half right.

Think about it - the mainstream media hates Trump so much that in a vain attempt to make the Trumps look bad, they attack Melania over fashion during a crisis. Don't they understand how ridiculous they are making themselves look? Our society would be better served by helping the victims instead of pushing for a tax that will make their lives harder. Just think how much worse off the people of Florida and Texas would have been with higher gas prices due to a carbon tax which would not have stopped the hurricanes anyway.
