Your Opinion: Looking ahead

Dear Editor:

Everybody on television said to vote. People I know said to vote, it's your duty. You should vote, our veterans died for that right.

I don't think voting means much anymore and maybe never did. We have corporate America and billionaires stealing our elections. Guys like the Koch brothers have, I hear, spent hundreds of million of dollars trying to buy our elections. Citizens United opened the gate for more special interest money.

Our electoral system is a joke on us. Popular vote, our vote, comes in second again as in 2000. Thousands of votes didn't count. Millions of people didn't vote also.

Voter suppression is lurking among us also, Minorities of color, income level, etc., are begin blocked or discouraged from voting. Does that sound American? Even many of our churches have become corporate and political.

Third-party candidates are not allowed in the debates, Other views are not allowed. Racism has reared its head unashamed. Social Security may be in jeopardy and many rights we have come to treasure over the years.

Many changes I believe are coming. I hope you like the changey-feely stuff coming. Everyone says we need to come together. We need to heal. I say good luck.

Until we the people have our wants addressed instead of corporate America's we will be divided. Until our politicians are no longer led around by the 1 percent or less than that, we will have little say.

I want to see Donald Trump's millions of jobs. I hope he can do it. Isn't that putting faith in big government. Good luck everyone.
