Your Opinion: Explanation based on statistics

Dear Editor:

Much ado is being made about racial disparities during traffic stops. Could it be that the answer is as simple as, blacks commit more traffic infractions? I realize this is not a politically correct thought and that many of the politically correct would like to ban such thought.

Blacks make up less than 13 percent of the U.S. population. According to 2013 FBI crime reports they constitute over 28 percent of those arrested for crimes. Blacks constitute 52.2 percent of those arrested for murder, 31.3 percent of those arrested for rape, 56.4 percent of those arrested for robbery, etc. Over 50 percent of murders of police officers are committed by blacks.

While some can come up with all types of justifications for the above statistics, no reasonable person can think that they aren't proof that blacks commit crimes at a much higher rate than other races.
