Your Opinion: Require valid photo ID for voters

Dear Editor:

First of all I feel that all voters should have a valid photo ID when voting. We should show proof that not only do we live in the United States but a valid (repeat valid) citizen of the United States.

Unfortunately our esteemed governor doesn't think that is necessary. A lot of his excuses as to why he vetoed are pure fabricated liberal rhetoric.

His comment that it would suppress voter turnout among certain classes of voters. Does the governor mean illegals voting in our state election? I hope not. Now maybe we know how he got elected these past two terms.

The other comment about "the more citizens participate in our democracy by going to the polls, the stronger our democracy is." Well, governor, you left out one very important word. You left out U.S. or American in front of citizens.

People have to have a valid ID to drive, to buy alcohol and to smoke cigarettes, I feel that you should have a valid ID to vote. A good example is where my wife works at, a fellow employee has been pulled over numerous times for driving without a drivers license. She still drives, and she is a Mexican. Oh no, she probably does not have insurance either.

Well, governor, if they ever come out with a "Hogan's Heroes" movie, you could play Sgt. Schultz because you "See Nothing."
