The Jefferson City Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the "Stars Under the Stars" series again this summer, with three movie showings scheduled on the Capitol lawn.

Missouri Health and Missouri River Regional Library are helping host the events as well.

The movies will be projected on a giant inflatable screen with room for people to set up lawn chairs, blankets and picnics to enjoy the show.

The films will all begin at dusk on Fridays - "Beauty and the Beast," this Friday; "The Lego Movie," July 14; and "Angels in the Outfield," Aug. 4. (Dusk is estimated at 9:04 p.m. this Friday.)

All films are family-friendly, and the event is free for everyone.

"We've been doing the movies probably seven or eight years," Parks and Recreation Facilities Director Phil Stiles said. "It was just a way for us to do a nice family event that's free and to get people together to enjoy the state Capitol grounds."

Parks and Recreation will hold a "Teddy Bear Picnic" prior to the July 14 show in honor of National Teddy Bear Picnic Day (July 10), sponsored by Freshwater Church.
