Tebbetts man gets probation for forgery

A Tebbetts man was placed on five years supervised probation after pleading guilty to four counts of forgery for passing bad checks at multiple businesses in the Jefferson City area in 2015.

Tyler Kempker, 28, committed the crimes in October 2015.

Kempker had written the checks on his girlfriend's account without her authorization, according to a Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement.

The checks totaled $9,607.

A Callaway County Sheriff's deputy responded to Kempker's residence and saw a trailer that had been purchased with a forged check from a business in Cole County.

The trailer was connected to a truck registered to Kempker, and it contained numerous tools and equipment.

After being taken into custody, Kempker admitted to making numerous transactions with the checks.

At Kempker's residence, authorities found more items purchased with the forged checks.
