Gov. Nixon has knee surgery

No details released

JEFFERSON CITY -- Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon is recuperating from surgery on his right knee earlier this week, according to his staff.

Nixon had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Tuesday morning, according to his press secretary Scott Holste. The procedure was done locally. Questions about where the procedure was done and what prompted the need for surgery went unanswered.

"He held in-person meetings with his staff Tuesday and today at his residence and also has been in phone contact to keep up with business of the office," Holste said Wednesday in an email. "He should be back in the office very soon."
