Your Opinion: Keep religion out of schools

July 13th, 2014 by Sue Gibson, Jefferson City in News

Dear Editor:

The governor has seriously erred by signing the bill to protect religious expression in public schools. People send their children to school to get an education. They can take them to church for their religious practices. It is also wrong for taxpayers to pay for the use of facilities for extracurricular religious activities.

By elbowing and bullying their way into public education, Christians have opened the door for practitioners of other supernatural folly, such as satanism, to display their own religious imagery and use school facilities as well.

I hope to see Missouri student activists run with this ball all the way to the goal: separation of church and state as intended by the founders.
