Lincoln travels to Missouri Western

The Lincoln men's and women's basketball teams return to action today as the Blue Tigers travel to Missouri Western for another Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association matchup.

The women's game will start at 5:30 p.m. while the men's game will follow at 7:30 in St. Joseph.

The Blue Tiger women (3-14, 0-10), who are coming off a 66-58 loss to Southwest Baptist on Saturday, will try to end a 10-game losing streak against the Griffons (7-10, 2-8).

This will be the first time Lincoln has played Missouri Western since posting a 73-66 win at home last year.

With seven straight double-digit performances, including four games with 20 or more points, Jennifer Rosado has emerged as Lincoln's top scorer. Rosado leads the Blue Tigers with 13.7 points per game, while Hunter Yoakum is next with 10.9 ppg. Angela Randall (9.5 ppg) is Lincoln's leader in rebounds (6.1), assists (2.4), and steals.

The Blue Tigers are shooting 36 percent from the field and average 60.2 points per game while opponents are shooting 44 percent from the floor and averaging 70.5 points a night.

Seventeen players have taken the court for Missouri Southern this year, with Ariana Novak (10.7 ppg) being the only one averaging double digits.

The Griffons are averaging 62.9 points per game, but the team is holding opponents to 60.8 ppg.

The Blue Tiger men (2-16, 0-10) will be in a similar situation when they take on Missouri Western (8-10, 3-7) tonight.

Lincoln, which has lost its last 10 games, is coming off one of its worst losses of the season after falling to Southwest Baptist 101-70 on Saturday.

Mike Smith is averaging 16.2 points to lead the Blue Tigers, while Joshua Buie is close behind with 15.1 ppg. Buie has scored more than 20 points on seven occasions this season and also leads Lincoln in steals (1.9) and assists (3.4).

The Blue Tigers are shooting 42 percent from the field and average 75.5 points per game, while opponents are putting up 88.4 points and shooting just over 50 percent from the field against Lincoln's defense.

Missouri Western, which has lost four of its last five games, averages 77.4 points a game and opponents are averaging just over 80 points per game.

Ryan Devers leads the Griffons with 17.3 points and 4.4 assists ppg, while Cortrez Colbert (13.3 ppg) and Adarius Fulton (10.9 ppg) are also among the team's leading scorers.

Both Lincoln teams will remain on the road Saturday when the Blue Tigers take on Missouri Western.
