Huge second quarter sends Helias to victory

SEDALIA - All it took was eight minutes.

Helias used a 33-point second quarter to cruise past Sedalia Smith-Cotton 71-46 on Tuesday night.

Helias led 13-12 after one quarter. That advantage ballooned to 46-24 at halftime. The Crusaders took a 55-27 edge into the final period.

Isiah Sykes starred for the Crusaders with 29 points, the only player on either team in double figures. After Sykes it was quite a balanced effort, as 12 of the Crusaders' 13 plaeyrs on the varsity roster scored.

Helias (8-2) hosts Moberly on Friday.

Helias won the JV game 59-45 to improve to 3-2 on the season.

Weston Porter and Dalton Weaver scored 13 points apiece to lead the Crusaders. Alex Brandt added 10 points.
