St. Elizabeth, Tuscumbia cruise to wins

ELDON - St. Elizabeth and Tuscumbia powered their way to victories Monday night in the Class 1 District 6 Tournament.

Top-seeded St. Elizabeth got the event going by blasting eighth-seeded Humansville 74-16.

The Lady Hornets raced out to a 20-0 lead after one period and built it to 43-2 at halftime. It was 60-5 after three quarters.

All 11 St. Elizabeth players scored in the contest, led by 12 points apiece for Allie Heckemeyer and Savannah Stiles. Mackenzie Struemph chipped in with 11 and Haven Bax had 10. Heckemeyer added six rebounds, five assists and three blocks in just 15 minutes of action, while Stiles had four rebounds and three assists, also in 15 minutes of play.

Kendra Vaughan led four players in double figures with a game-high 22 points as second-seeded Tuscumbia cruised to a 88-22 win against No. 7 Climax Springs.

MaKayla Vaughan added 18 points for the Lady Lions, Tempary Gunter finished with 17 and TaKayla Gunter chipped in with 16 to lead the Lady Lions (22-4).

Tuscumbia led 30-4 after the first quarter, 52-6 at halftime, and took a 77-13 advantage into the final period.

St. Elizabeth, the eighth-ranked team in the state, will play Weaubleau at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the semifinals, while Tuscumbia, the state's No. 10 team, will face Macks Creek at 7:30 p.m.
