A Jefferson City man, charged with attempting to break into a business in February 2013, has been placed on five years supervised probation after being found guilty by a Cole County jury in January.
Byron Williams, 24, was charged with one count of second-degree burglary.
He must also serve 10 days of shock detention.
Jefferson City police reports show officers responded to a burglary in progress at JT's Kwik Shop, 301 Lafayette St.
A witness heard a loud banging noise and saw three men, one being Williams, trying to break into the business.
When officers arrived, the suspects fled the area. But officers were able to trace their direction through the snow to the 700 block of East McCarty Street and eventually take them into custody.
