Suspect identified in Eldon meth arrest

Christopher P. Whittle, 21, of Russellville, was arrested in Eldon on Monday, April 14, after an investigation stemming from pending charges from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, according to a news release from Eldon Police Chief Rodney Fair.

Officer Mike Atkinson of the Eldon Police Department located 43 grams of methamphetamine in Whittle's possession, along with drug paraphernalia. As Atkinson was making the arrest, Whittle fled on foot. After a brief chase for approximately four city blocks, he was recaptured and transported to the Eldon Police Department.

Whittle has been charged with Class B felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, Class D felony possession of drug paraphernalia and a Class D felony of resisting arrest.

Atkinson was assisted in the foot chase by Fair and by off-duty MSHP officer Neil Atkinson.
