A newly formed opera company, MOstly Opera, is presenting a show titled "Opera by the Bar" at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct 18, at Das Stein Haus in Jefferson City.

The show includes excerpts from "Die Fledemaus" and "Hansel and Gretel." Patrons might even hear Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries."

MOstly Opera is a collection of opera-loving adults who also sing German art songs and some pop songs by Kurt Weil, a German composer who came to America to escape Hitler and went on to compose many musicals.

The evening will include a sing-along with the dinner patrons of some of these art songs.

Guiding members of the company are Ann Roberts, Abby Roberts and Ann Riggs. They have recruited singing friends from past produced opera scenes in the area. They are Lacey William, Kerry Cordray, Ruth Robertson, Bill Stine, Jennifer Fults and Cassandra Gal. Performers include Bethany Kiral, temporarily in Jefferson City before returning to Germany.

Accompanist for the evening is Bill Lehman.
