Nothing like a little extra color for fall.

Jefferson City area hair salons are putting their everyday skills to work for breast cancer research this October, in celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Marshall & Company as well as Heads Up Salon and Spa are just two of the salons offering a pink highlight for awareness.

Marshall & Company salon coordinator Annie Kittrell said the salon is offering the pink streak for a cost of $10, with $8 going directly to cancer research. The cost would be an extra $10 should the client need their hair lightened first. The salon, located along Edgewood Drive, also has several pink products available, with portions of the proceeds going to various breast cancer research organizations.

Heads Up Salon co-owner Candy Hill said the proceeds from their $20 highlights will benefit a local Relay 4 Life team. One of the salon's clients is a breast cancer survivor and is organizing the relay team.

Both salons are offering the highlights throughout October. I've got mine, now go schedule yours!
