The Jefferson City Community Symphonic Band is gearing up for its annual Veterans Day Concert. The public is invited to the free event, which will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Capitol Rotunda.

The group's Facebook page bills the upcoming show as a fun concert of patriotic marches, favorite melodies and folk tunes, Wild West music and some favorite band clas-sics from past and present.

"It's completely a dedication to the veterans," said Earl Kliethermes, a band member and spokesman for the group. "We always acknowledge the veterans in the audience. We will have them stand up and applaud them and mention their units. We play the National Anthem as well as other patriotic songs."

The band is composed of 40-50 people and is open to all."It's open to anybody who can play," Kliethermes said. "They don't have to be a top player."
