The board hired Suzanne Lackman as special services teacher, Taylor Chandler as K-8 vocal music teacher and Shawn Smith as assistant middle school boys' basketball coach.

In other business, the board:

• Approved a 5-cent increase in meal prices for the 2013-14 school year.

• Declared Bus No. 4 to be sold as surplus property.

• Awarded the bid to install a partition wall with double doors in the elementary school to Brady's Glass.
