Linn State regents raise tuition, finalize budget

June 27th, 2013 in News

Tuition is going up $3 for each credit hour, Linn State Technical College regents voted this week.

President Don Claycomb said Wednesday the increase was "the amount allowable for LSTC based on the state formula."

Regents also approved a $27,599,647 budget for the 2013-14 school year that begins Monday.

The operating budget will be $16,678,300, while the auxiliary budget will be $2,782,356 and restricted grants are $2,138,000.

As Missouri's only state-owned and -operated technical college, Linn State gets some money from the state budget.

Although Gov. Jay Nixon has not yet signed the appropriations bills for the new business year, Claycomb said lawmakers budgeted $4,616,807 - an increase of $98,731, or about 2.1 percent, over the current budget year.

John Klebba, Linn, was re-elected as the regents' president, while new member Scott Christianson, Columbia, was elected vice president.
