Your Opinion: Rural-urban comparison unfair

June 23rd, 2013 by Steven Brown, Holts Summit in News

Dear Editor:

Another rant by Robert Haslag about Mississippi and the benefits of a socialist run government. Are there no Democrats in the whole state of Mississippi that can step up and save the poor minority packed state?

It would be helpful if Haslag compared apples to apples. You see figures lie, and liars figure. I think the readers understand this and see Haslag for what he is.

Just so ya know, according to the USDA as of 2011, the number of farms (at least areas or property listed as a farm) in Massachusetts are 7,700. Mississippi lists 42,400. The number of acres being farmed in Massachusetts are 520, while Mississippi shows 11,150. Income according to the USDA for Massachusetts is $161,221 while Mississippi is $1,386,997.

You see we are talking about rural verses urban areas. Democrats/liberals love urban areas because that's where the moochers hang out. They would never be able to survive in the country.
