A Jefferson City man has been charged with three counts of stealing along with a charge of financially exploiting the elderly.
The charges against Ronald Fields, 38, 2910 Kenborg Hills Road, stem from events that occurred this past December and in May of this year.
Authorities said Fields promised to do work for a 75-year-old woman, including making repairs to her deck, replacing guttering and sealing the walls of her basement.
A contract was entered, and the customer gave Fields a check for $1,000.
The customer later talked with the city and found Fields didn't have a business license.
Fields admitted to not completing the work as promised, and cashing the check and using the money on personal items.
In another case, Fields agreed to replace 22
windows of a residence for a total of $6,324 for materials.
Fields said he only paid for one window.
He also admitted to taking $939 to demolish an existing deck of another residence and not performing the work.
Fields also said he had taken $300 from a resident to replace windows and winterize windows on the back of the residence without doing any of the work.
