Accident on U.S. 54 injures two

Two Jefferson City residents were injured in a one-vehicle accident Saturday morning on U.S. 54 West.

According to the Jefferson City Police Department, Chelsea Woodling, 21 of Jefferson City, was traveling eastbound in the 1200 block of U.S. 54 West at 6:28 a.m. Saturday, when her vehicle began to hydroplane and she overcorrected as she entered a curve.

The vehicle struck the center divider several times and Woodling, as well as a passenger in the vehicle, Jerremy Doucette, 21 of Jefferson City, were injured in the accident. Doucette refused treatment at the scene and Woodling was transported from the scene by Cole County EMS.

Neither person was wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash, police report.
