Post 5 wins twice in tourney

SEDALIA - The Jefferson City American Legion Post 5 Seniors won a pair of games Sunday in the Sedalia Tournament.

Post 5 began play with an 8-0 victory over the hosts in a five-inning affair.

Cole Distler was the winning pitcher, tossing four innings and allowing two hits with one strikeout. He also collected two hits and two RBI at the plate.

Kyler Maxey and Connor Hager both had a double and two RBI.

Post 5 then defeated Harrisonville 17-1 in five innings.

Collin Brinker picked up the win by tossing two innings and allowing no runs on two hits with two strikeouts. Corey Beard tossed the final three frames, allowing one run on no hits with six strikeouts and six walks.

Maxey went 4-for-4 with a homer, four RBI and three runs scored.

Trevor Schnieders had two hits, three RBI and three runs scored, Beard had a double and three RBI and Distler had two hits and two RBI.

Post 5 (2-0) hosts Fulton on Tuesday.
