Burglary, assault land Camdenton man in prison

A Camdenton man has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to charges with breaking into his former girlfriend's Jefferson City apartment and assaulting her in October 2012.

William Scott, 22, was charged with first-degree burglary and second-degree domestic assault.

A charge of second-degree property damage was dismissed.

The incident occurred early Wednesday morning in the 1600 block of Jefferson Heights.

Jefferson City police said Scott forced open the door to the apartment and then choked the victim until she became light headed and fell to the ground.

Scott also hit the victim in the face and kicked her in her upper body.
