Sewer tap fee increase to be introduced at Jefferson City Council

July 12th, 2013 in News

A potential $100 increase in the sewer connection fee will be introduced Monday at the Jefferson City Council meeting.

According to the bill, the increase, which would raise the fee from $300 to $400, was recommended in a 2005 rate study done by Burns and McDonnell. The bill summary states "comparing other central Missouri sewer systems, our connection fee will remain one-half to one-fifth of the others."

The financial impact of the bill, if approved, would increase estimated revenue from sewer connections by $8,000 annually.

In other business, City Administrator Nathan Nickolaus is expected to give his monthly finance report to the council Monday. The July receipts for the 1 percent general sales tax came in $74,000 above projections, the first time since March that the city sales tax exceeded projections.
