A Jefferson City man is facing criminal charges after police stopped a burglary early Monday morning.
The name of the 22-year-old suspect was not released until formal charges are filed. He was arrested for second-degree burglary and second-degree property damage.
According to police reports, officers were dispatched around 3 a.m. Monday to Westgate Lanes, 2017 Christy Drive, in reference to an alarm.
While searching the building, an officer confronted a man exiting the rear door where the alarm originated. The man was dressed in black and brown, and was wearing gloves and a mask. He also was carrying three bank bags that contained money.
The suspect was later found to be an employee of the business. The investigation revealed that an office door was kicked in, where the bank bags had been kept.
