Dixon seeks 2 changes to way judges get state cases

It's been 53 years since the state's circuit courts were realigned, state Sen. Bob Dixon told colleagues Tuesday afternoon. And he thinks it's time to change that.

"A general re-circuiting of districts across this state has happened only twice in the last century - the last time was in 1959," Dixon, R-Springfield, told Senate Judiciary Committee members as he explained two bills he's filed to change the situation.

"During this time we've seen drastic changes in population across the state."

Missouri's Constitution says: "The state shall be divided into convenient circuits of contiguous counties. In each circuit there shall be at least one circuit judge.
