Nixon feeling right at home in Capital City

Gov. Jay Nixon is being sworn-in today as only the sixth man to serve two terms as Missouri's chief executive.

Of the 53 men to hold the office, he is not one of the three Missouri governors who have come from Cole County, according to the historical listing of governors on the secretary of state's Web site (

Nixon, 55, is listed from Jefferson County, where he grew up in DeSoto.

But, the governor told the News Tribune last week, the Capital City really is his second home, since he's lived here for the past 20 years.
