A man identified as Jessie R. Williams, 21, was listed in fair condition Saturday afternoon at University Hospital in Columbia, after he was hit by a car early Saturday morning in Jefferson City.

Police said Williams was crossing the U.S. 50/63 Expressway at Broadway Street against a red light, when he was struck by an eastbound 1999 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by Lance E. Call, 48, Holts Summit.

Call was using his seat belt. Officers said Call had a green light and, therefore, the right of way.

The report did not detail Williams' injuries or provide any other information about why he was crossing the highway against the light.

In a separate incident, a Jefferson City woman received what the Missouri Highway Patrol said were moderate injuries late Saturday morning, in a one-vehicle accident in eastern Cole County.

The Patrol said Jenna L. Cline, 20, was speeding on Shamrock Road at 11:30 a.m. and failed to negotiate a curve. Her northbound 1997 Honda Civic ran off the left side of the road, overturned and stopped against an embankment.

The accident happened about 1.5 miles south of Shamrock Road's intersection with Liberty Road. Investigators said Cline was using a seat belt. She was taken in a private vehicle to get medical treatment.
