Jefferson City police catch fleeing suspects

Jefferson City police took four people into custody for various violations Tuesday night after a police dog tracked and found two of them who had fled into the woods.

Police report an officer stopped a vehicle in the 1500 block of Swifts Highway around 10:09 p.m. Two passengers from the vehicle ran into a nearby wooded area, while the driver and another passenger remained in the vehicle.

Officers set up a perimeter around the woods and used a police dog to locate the two runaways. They were arrested on outstanding warrants and for resisting arrest.

The other passenger also was arrested for outstanding warrants, and the driver was taken into custody for numerous traffic violations. Names of the suspects were not immediately released.
