Holts Summit probes air conditioner thefts

Investigators with the Holts Summit Police Department (HSPD) are asking for the public's help in solving a string of air conditioning component thefts that have plagued the city over the past few months.

Throughout the months of August and September, at least six north and central Holts Summit residents reported the compressors were stolen out of the outdoor portion of their central air conditioning units at night. HSPD would like community assistance in solving these crimes.

Det. Mark Beardsley, who is heading the investigation, said the combined total value of the parts is $11,000.

"I don't know if they're scrapping them or if they're selling them to private parties," Beardsley said. "That's why I'm asking for the public's help on this."
